This place deserves a 3.5 rating but Yelp has yet to perfect the half star rating. Why is it 3.5 stars? Well the quality of the wet pastrami and onion rings are easily a 4 but $30 for a pastrami and a soda is a little pricey in my book. I'm used to paying roughly $20 for the same amount of food at the Hat, which you can only find in the San Gabriel Valley. And guess what, it's just as good if not better. So is this a review for Johhny Pastrami's or the Hat? I say check both out! Can't go wrong with a Wet Pastrami.
This is an all-time favorite spot! I have been frequenting Johnnie's for as long as I can remember. Our go-to order (perfect to share) is a pastrami with no cheese, chili-cheese fries with onions, and a root beer float, you cannot go wrong! Service is ok, but quick! Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, with cute fire pits and lots of shade. This is a no-frills institution that has been around for a loooong time, for obvious reasons!
Cozy place with a friendly staff! This place has classic pastrami sandwiches (a half size for $13.50 + $1 with cheese) which was pretty good. I'd come back if I was craving pastrami sandwiches!
